* Remove the right bearing for the leadscrew
* Remove the carriage brake (just remove the brake screw and then the brake block drops out)
* Remove the two bolts tying the apron to the carriage.
* Very carefully slide the apron off of the right side of the lathe bed. Be very careful not to bend your leadscrew.



 Removed the two (2) bolts from the back of the cross slide.
* Removed the cross slide entirely 
* supported the lead screw with two (2) C-Clamps to hold it in position - then removed the leadscrew support bushing
* after removing the apron - I also supported the end of the lead screw with a plastic "wire tie" through the leadscrew support bushing bolt hole in the ways - encircling the leadscrew and providing additional support.
