105161, 11/15/1940, 13” x 6’, Catalog No. 113-C, UMD QCG Floor lathe, The dealer is listed as GEN'L MOTORS OVERSEAS, NEW YORK, NEW YORK., Amongst the lathe characteristics, under "TRANS ATT" it says 100M, I guess this confirms that originally it had a metric transpose gear set, confirming the observation by a Yahoo group member about the gear cover., Some items are handwritten, under "C F GEAR" (crossfeed?) it appears to say Std., Under "R P GEAR" (???) it seems to say P10, and Spindle length is given as 19 3/16", (which is normal for 1" bore spindle)., In an unlabelled box presumably for special items it says, "USE CUSTOMER'S MOTOR" 3/4 hp, 115V, DC, 1725RPM, make: DELCO. switch: 790, wiring diagram W406, V-belt no 2950., Under special electrical equipment it says: #CH 6102 EMF RESISTANCE PANEL, (presumably that's a braking resistor?), On the ways before the serial number is "RASC" and underneath that "7361"., Below the serial number are "JFP" and "DWW", On the back of the bed at the tailstock end is a nicely engraved brass plate, that says "YD No 2783" RASC could be Royal Army Service Corps, (it was called that from 1918-1965 so the period fits)., The core was responsible for supplying the army so had a lot of vehicles, and facilities to service them., Amongst the vehicles they used was the GMC workshop truck, which was fitted with a generator and a lathe.
