107684 1941 10L 3.5 bed 487-Z The 10L is close to complete so here are the photos you asked for. I've also included the 1941 catalog page I found that refers to this 487Z model. Very clearly a big bore 10L but with the countershaft instead of the underdrive. I've been comparing it to my N series and the bed is similar and the headstock is a scaled up version of the same. The countershaft is noticable larger and much heavier than the one on the N series. The compound has the different screw and wedge lock base. Note that I also have the lever collet closer that goes with the 5C adapter although it isn't shown in the photos. I was also lucky with this one. Most of it just needed a lot of cleaning, oiling and then painting. Also new felts. Only major part I replaced was the countershaft which suffered from lack of oil. The spindle is flawless and the bearings only needed a minor shim adjustment. No broken or worn out gears or bearings throughout. The labels shown are carefully refurbished originals with the original rivets. Paint color is the Sherwin Williams formula others are using. There was some old paint on part of the thread dial that matched very well accounting for the age.
