I recently acquired my first South Bend lathe,
The SB13 is in great condition, well oiled and everything operates very smoothly.  The bed looks like it has been machined, as it is perfectly smooth with no dings or any markings at all.  The bed has not been scraped.  The taper attachment is missing the bed mount bracket.  The ways on the taper attachment look like it came from a different machine with countless dings and marks.  

The seller reported that he bought it at an auction at the school where he teaches, Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School.  He stated that this machine was in the school machine shop since it was purchased new.

Based on your database, it looks like this machine was built in the 70's.
