145364, 1943 Workshop 9C QCG added (Logan) Headstock Spindle: 1 ½” x 8 TPI 3MT (SBL) I recently bought a Southbend 9” lathe that was rebuilt (and perhaps modified?) by a retired machinist who unfortunately passed away (I bought it from a family friend). Attached are some photos. This lathe has no power crossfeed or friction clutch, which should mean that it is a model C – yet it does have a quick change gearbox, which a C should not normally have I think. This is the reason I am thinking it was modified. As you can see from the photos, the speed/feed reference plate on the gearbox also is a Logan plate – which is another reason why I have concluded it was modified. If you have any insight it is welcome – otherwise consider this as data for your database. Thanks again! Mike
