Sir: I saw your list of serial numbers of South Bend lathes and according to that, my lathe is from 1920. The serial number is 23878, and has the catalog number 37G. On the big brass plate it has the numbers 15-16. It is a 15" swing with a 10 ft. bed. It has had a transmission and electric motor mounted on it for gear changes, but I'm sure they're not original. It has a 3-jaw chuck. It all works good except for the half-nuts, which are worn enough to slip, so I'm trying to find someone to fix them or get some better ones. I got it from Waverly, Ia. where it was used in a factory that made propeller drive shafts for ships and boats. I just thought you might like to add it to your list.
