I recently found and joined PM and YSBG. I acquired a small lathe for home/hobby use and am just beginning my research, prior to spinning it up. I think it is as follows: S/N: 31250 KAR - making this a circa mid-70's 10K? Cat #: CL 770 R - the "R" bed length seems correct (4.5'), but the prefix (CL) is poorly stamped and I could not find a cross-ref to 770 on the SB site. I will be buying the S/N card from SB and will re-confirm this Cat # with you. The lathe is mounted on a cabinet, has a motor mounted horizontally on the rear of the cabinet, uses a fabric flat belt with metal clips. I don't recall the belt type between the motor and secondary shaft, (Is this called the counter-shaft?), but I think it is a v-belt. The motor is 3-phase so I need to do electrical work before spin-up. I already have a start-up converter, hopefully the load will allow for non-continuous 3 phase with the electronic third leg. I also need to review lubrication points before spinning as it has been cold for a while. The lathe came with a set of collets (5C?) but does not have a draw-bar or closer sleeve. It has a 4-jaw chuck attached, no tool post/holders and no tailstock centers. Hopefully I can find a collet closer somewhere, I am sure a tool post and live/dead centers can be had commercially. Thanks for all the effort to pull this info together... and thanks for listening. Cheers, ++ Jim
