33132, Series O, 11" x 3-1/2 foot bed, Catalog No. 563-ZB wswells note: By catalog number, originally a Simplex Motor Drive lathe I inherited an old South Bend lathe from my late father a while back that I think is quite rare, I think it's rare cause I have not been able to find any information on its specific model anywhere, The lathe is an 11" by 3 1/2 foot bed, It is similar to the horizontal drive or silent V drive lathes but not exactly, It has all the bells and whistles like quick change gears, collet draw bar and chuck, milling attachment, 3-jaw, 4-jaw, lots of tooling and it still works very well! The catalog number is: 563-ZB and the serial no. is: 33132, by your table that puts it being made in or around the fall of 1926, Everything on it does look used but not terribly worn, It makes good, clean cuts and I can mostly get a good finish on everything I have tried, The ways don't look too beat up but do show some wear, I was wondering if you have seen a lathe like this?, Have you ever heard of this type of lathe?, I can't find that catalog number anywhere and I have searched for quite a while, I did pay the 25.00 fee at Grizzly to get the serial lookup but I haven't heard anything back from them yet, I am attaching a couple of pics, tell me what you think, if and when you have time of course, Thanks!, Greg P.S. It doesn't look like this anymore! I spent days with a wire wheel and scotchbrite pads polishing it up(not the ways of course)! My father would have killed me if he saw his lathe in that condition!
