52377 Today I took possession of a rusted but tight SBL 8” x 36” engine lathe, a Cat. No. 408-Y. It had been sold by HERBERT(S) MOORE Machine Tool of San Francisco (has an H-M plate above the main SBL plate on the gear cover). I can not find a serial number, but admit that it may be beneath rust or dried lubricant. If I find it I will forward. I was very lucky and received a full set of gears, lots of tooling, 3 chucks, and some other yet unidentified items, but of course no manual. I was also lucky to come across your website this evening, and I am grateful that you and your cohorts have provided so many old catalogs and other published items; they are tremendous. I’ve the serial number now. The ways down ‘that’ way had a nice coat of oxidation over 52377. AND, the finish on this machine appears to have been the gray, not the japanned (which I would be inclined toward).
