Good day Sir, what a great site. 

 I have an old 9" South Bend Lathe that I bought 15 or so years ago and although I haven’t done a whole bunch of work with it, on more than one occasion it has saved my bacon.

 I am a close to retiring mechanic and I purchased it from a machinist friend.  He and his brother had used it when they where youngsters and his brother who was also a machinist became quite a well

 know gunsmith around the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Canada area.  The lathe is a 9” x 36” bed it appears to have been purchased from A.R. Williams Machinery Company Limited out of Toronto Ontario

 Canada. The Catolog No. is 405-Y and the Serial Number is 55484 I have all of the change gears, reverse gear, a couple of compound gears and 105 tooth turning gear.  I intend to keep an eye out for

 some tool bit holders and other attachments for it that will make it a little more versatile.
