60161, 8/1935, 405-ZB, 9 inch x 3-1/2 ft Workshop Model 5, 1 3/8" X 10 spindle, thread and a pick off gear for reversing the carriage. It is driven by a flat belt connected to a rear motor drive and has a taper attachment. In August 1935 it was shipped to the South Bend dealer in Richmond VA, but returned to the factory in March 1936. In July 1937 it was sold to Albert Turner, Springfield Vermont. In January 1995 I bought it from Plaza Machinery, Bethel Vermont. At that time, I took it apart, cleaned it and painted it. The brass painted name plate and brass threading chart are in excellent condition. In June 2004 I brought the lathe to the South Bend Factory in my car. They reground the bed, carriage and cross slide, and aligned the headstock and tailstock. It was shipped back to me in September 2004 and remains in excellent condition. Yours truly, Jay F.
