UMD Tool room lathe,
this lathe has been in our family for many years. It is a UMD model but built into a steel framed cupboard. During it's time with us it has rebuilt several steam engines for historic boats, three 71/4 guage locomotives and hundreds of general maintenance duties. Rumour had it when we purchased it that it came over here with the U.S. Forces and was sold to an engineering company in Lincolnshire at a surplus auction. We converted it to "v" belt drive without base alterations and retained the original parts.
