9361RKX14 Greetings, I came across your site with the South Bend Lathes listed, as I was researching the lathe we have in our machinist class. My instructor requested a copy of the Serial Card (which I have attached). This lathe is still in service at ITT Goulds Pumps, Seneca Falls, New York - Advanced Manufacturing Machinist Course in partnership with Finger Lakes Community College. We were trying to figure out some of the controls such as the backgear, and feed clutch knob, but also to see if we could get a new threading index as the one currently is barely legible. The lathe has dates of April 8, 1957 and a shipping date of May 16, 1957. It is yellow, we have a 3 jaw and 4 jaw chuck for it, a collet spindle, the tailstock has a normal tailstock with dead center and a turret tail stock. It also has a taper attachment as well. I will try to obtain pictures of this machine and forward them if you would like. The original buyer was listed as "Adam 228-3" which I attempted to research without any definate results. I suspect it may be Adams Elevator which made elevator and escalator parts for several manufacturers including Westinghouse which bought the company, and then sold to a German elevator company called Schindler.
