I am the proud owner of SBL #9600, a 13" lathe with 6' bed. I purchased it with my house in southern Wisconsin in 2001. The former owner, Dr. Hiram Hallock, was a research scientist at the USDA Forest Products Research Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. I never knew him, as he passed before I moved to WI, and I do not know where or when he purchased the lathe. Dr. Hallock used it for woodturning, and may have used it for some metalwork. I have not used the lathe; although not perfect, it is in working condition, but the electrical wiring in the shop was in a very dangerous state when I moved in. Before I completed renovations, I developed a neuromuscular condition that has seriously curtailed my activities. We will likely be selling the lathe in the near future.
